Is this where the inverter uses some of the batteries power and combines it with grid power to meet the demand of the load? Eg. If you turn the oven on and there is a high draw. Yes. Though often also solar power blended with grid/generator power. Axperts generally can't, with the exception of a few models such as the King and possibly the Aerox (the Aerox is a weird model that only seems to be available in Pakistan). The Axpert King has dual conversion, so that blending of all power sources (PV, battery, grid) is possible in most modes and when the inverter proper isn't overloaded. Models with the 450 V max solar charge controllers (e.g. Axpert MKS II, the "II" is important) seem to have the ability to blend solar power with grid power under certain conditions. These models aren't legal in Australia, so I don't know much about them. Unfortunately, all Axpert inverters are resold, and there is little to no consistency amongst the resellers' model names, so when considering a particular model, it's important to first figure out what Voltronic Power model it is. Johandup Posted November 2, 2019 Share Posted November 2, 2019 Depending on the amps that’s drawn vs the (real world) amps the inverter can supply. it would be nice to have a 12kW inverter but that’s out of my budget (and plans). And probably illegal in a future world. My hybrid 4K inverter yesterday tripped instantaneously when the mains tripped whilst the borehole pump was running. When the inverter took over (all by itself) the pump started up but the 34 amps required for starting the pump overpowered the inverter. When it’s running supported by the mains the inverter will register 128% I make it a point not to start it or let it run on the inverter. Nice test but not to be repeated. It seems to me to be a niche product. The double conversion adds cost and reduces efficiency (both slightly).
