ErwinK Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 HI guys I am looking at a solar system design, and most cost effective seems to be a parallel Growatt system. The manual unfortunately only covers wiring for the parallel side for the battery, Utility and loads, but does not show the MPPT Â Does anybody have experience on how PV panels / strings is to be wired in a parallel inverter system?I suspect that each MPPT will be wired separately (eg not parallel), but i am not sure how the balance will then be handled - rough drawing follows : TIA! ErwinK Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 Correction to above planned drawing. (cant find the edit post button :/) Quote
Jaco P Bloem Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Hi Erwin I do not have knowledge of the Growatt inverters, but have two Mecer Axperts in parallel. You are correct in that all similar AC in/out puts and Battery DC are parallel connected on the two inverters, except the PV inputs. You may not bridge the PV inputs as then you effectively parallel the 2 DC input sources (that you have designed with care in your drawing ) and short-circuiting the two mppt chargers. I am sure it will be similar with the Growatt: on the Axperts you connect a ton of communication and current sharing cables (a parallel communication kit) .. in order for the inverters to cleverly balance the power drawn from the 2 different PV sources, battery charging and AC (load) output..  (Perhaps check with the supplier?) Kind Regards Jaco P Augyman 1 Quote
hoohloc Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi, I'm running two parallel Growatt inverters. Like @Jaco P Bloem say, do not parallel the PV inputs, every other inputs and outputs are paralleled as per the installation manual except the PV inputs. In my case, I have four panels, 405W JA Solar with Voc of 49.86v. I have connected two panels in series and then wired them to 1st inverter and then connected the other two and wired to the 2nd inverter. Do not forget to connect isolators between your inverters and solar panels. I'm planning to add four more at the end of the month so that I can have 8. Augyman, ErwinK and Jaco P Bloem 3 Quote

I am planning a set of pylontech (will need 3 to 4 to provide enough charge to carry me through the evening) can you maybe share your supplier(s) details, as i want to make sure that the Growatt is correctly configured upon order (Parralel + wifi)  thank you!  Quote

I have two pylontechs 2.4kwh and planning to get two more at a later stage. The plan is to add On to the system when the need arises. For now, the two gets me through the 4 hours of normal loadshedding and I'm still left with about 40%. I got my batteries and panels from the Solar Shop and the two inverters from IKON Energy when they had a special last month. 5Kw at R9500 each, you will have to wire the two units as per the user manual and no need to do any settings for parallel operation. they automatically do that themselves and chooses master and slave. as for the wifi, you will have to configure the shineWifi stick yourself and its easy. All information is there when you get the products. If I can do it myself, you can do it too The installers wanted to charge me R10k to do the installation of the inverters and batteries and another R16k for the solar panels. I saved a total of R26k by doing everthing myself and will just get an Electrician to come and check everything and issue a CoC. That can be done by any qualified electrician and will just pay for that Augyman 1 Quote
Augyman Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hi Sir. How do I configure the same arrangement (2x5kW Growatt) so that I can see the combined or total PV Watts, Voltage and Amps? At the moment my SL information does not appear on my ShineApp I can only see HS information. I've connected 2p2s 385W JA solar panels per inverter. Please anyone on the forum help. Thank you Quote
Ian Mackenzie Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Hi, new join. I am running also 2 inverters in parallel with 2 batteries also in parallel. Any ideas on the best way to connect the RJ45 comms cables. I have already elected one as the master? Â Quote

Thank you Both your inverters should have the shinewifi stick/dongle connected and both online. Then just add the second one on your App, same way as you did when you add the HS one. On your App, select plant at the bottom of the screen, then on the top right hand cnr, there is a plus sign (+), select that and on the drop down list that will appear, select Add datalogger and then follow all the steps. Its straight forward Quote
Alllan Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 Hi, Guys is it possible to serial, paralell couple Growatt TL3-s 15KW On Grid together with Growatt 8kw hybrid and Growatt Batterybank 2x5KW or better to connect Growatt Battery Manager (Growatt SC 48120-MPV MPPT Charge Controller) with Growatt on Grid Inverter.(Grid tied).
