Mecer 5kVA - what’s the setting to use solar during the day & eskom at night.

Recommended Posts

Hi.
On the Mecer 5kVA - what’s the setting to prioritize it to bypass to solar during the day or when there is enough sun and to bypass to eskom when there is no sun or at night.
l have 6 panels of 370W each. 3 in series giving 120V and the other 3 in series again then the 2 sets in parallel.
1 x 3.6kWh battery so far.
system connected and working fine.
just need help with the settings.

Setting 01: set it to SOL (it might have a different name depending on the exact model).

Sigh. 120 V is higher than the MPPT top voltage (115 V), and will make the SCC run hotter and probably limit its power throughput. With 6 panels (2.2 kW nominal) it might work OK in summer. You'll likely need to rewire them as 2S3P eventually.

BTW the sigh is only because this is such a common situation, and I seem to have to say it twice a week.

Maybe as your signature at the bottom of the page where some members list their components, you should write: 72 cell panels must be in a 2S configuration!! 🤣🤣🤣

Hi guys

I just purchased a 5kva mecer inverter and 24 solar panels.  It came with struts and snap on module clips.. anyone knows of videos that show the installation of these JA panels

It will depend on what type of roof you have. Will also help if you post some pictures of what you already have then someone will be able to point you in the right direction
