Infini/Axpert Firmware Update Question.

Hi, last week I downloaded the InfiniSolar V User Manuel to get a printable copy as my eyes doesn't seem to like the small print miniature manuals that comes with the Invertors, might be age related, or even memory related as I can never remember where I put my glasses.

In the Manuel, i found quite a few functions and displays that is not available on my Inverter. Made an Inquiry, and after waiting for a couple of days for the factory to confirm that my Hardware is compatible with the firmware update, I received the new firmware via e-mail, as its not available for download yet.

Now for the guys like @plonkster and @Coulomb or Anyone Else that has attempted updating firmware, what should I be looking out for and what should I avoid. Any pointers would be appreciated. Dont want to leave my unit without a brain.

They included daily, monthly and yearly PV production totalizers, a function I believe the other Infinis already has. Also included timer settings to schedule certain functions. Not sure what else is included, but will report back once I know.

Wow. I had literally JUST finished flashing my Multiplus to firmware 408 when this post came in. This is something that after all these years -- and despite never bricking anything -- still fills me with dread and anguish :-)

The basics is this: Make sure nothing falls over or breaks down while you flash. On the Multiplus:

0. Make sure you have the right firmware.

1. Laptop battery should be well charged, or power it from an alternate source that doesn't go down when the inverter does.

2. Batteries should be well charged. Don't know about other makes, but the Multiplus runs from battery while flashing. On some models you have to disconnect the grid connection.

3. If you're using a virtual machine to flash, make sure that the USB-serial device is automatically attached to the virtual machine when detected. If there is a USB hub involved, might want to take that out of the equation especially if it is externally powered.

4. Follow the instructions to the letter :-)

The multiplus only has one firmware, as it is only one device. So this is just generic advice. No idea how it works on the Voltronics.

I managed to keep my track record of no bricked devices today :-)

@plonkster, thanks my plan for now, Grid Off, PV off, Load disconnected, All communication cables between the two invertors disconnected, only Battery's connected as they are the only essential source for the V to work. Then with some advice from @Manie, I will use the serial cable rather than the USB.

One more thing outstanding, just searching for the current firmware version to have it handy should i need to roll back.

@TinkerBoy, at this stage I dont have any idea of my production or consumption, till the development of a version of software for my inverter is completed, it will be all I have, so I am glad that they did include it. I am interested in what my PV production is, so have to be content with the update for now.

Currently I can export values and plot graphs manually , but that is time consuming.

Thanks@TinkerBoy, they did not include it in the mail, just reminded them. Also asked for the commands to call a string from 2 or more Inverters independently. Hope they can supply them too.

With this bunch of e-mails I rounded up the connection I was looking for all along, use to deal with the sales managers in China and Taiwan, think they got tired of my mails and hooked me up with one of the software guys in the Taiwan factory directly. Hope he proves useful for info on my inverter as well as help on other models should someone need info. I hope we can build a relationship with them as South African support is hard to come by. Can't get hold of the guys who brought my Inverters in for 2 weeks all ready.

Jaco,

I was just wondering how you got on with flashing the firmware on your V5K?  I also bought the same unit from FCS and also struggling with software. So far the only version of Solar Power I can get to even connect to the unit is version 1.12 but it doesn't log any data, I can just see real time info and change settings. I am having a problem with fault code 08 (bus voltage too high) and I want to log the data so I can analyse it when it happens again.

Any help or advice will be much appreciated.  Thanks

I know it is an old thread but since I just installed Infini V 5KW at my home so I am curious to know if there is a firmware update available.  Whom should I contact to get this update?

Hi Nadeem , you sure its a 5Kw , not maybe a 5KVA/4Kw? By the time I replaced my V's there was no firmware available and going on a mail from Voltronic at the time a firmware update from them wasn't in the pipeline. I am not sure if there is any privately developed firmware out there, but i am pretty sure there is nothing from Voltronic to play with.

Jaco,

Wasn't you talking about updating firmware of your Infinisolar V inverter?  Or do you have another one?  I apologize if I got it wrong.

What I am looking for is ... updated firmware for my Infinisolar V 5KW and instructions on how to update it.

From your original post, I got that you also have Infinisolar V for which you have got the new firmware.

Hi Nadeem, I did a firmware update on my machines but that was long ago, I cant remember if it was for the V or the Super. I was after the V's firmware and voltronic did send me something, but it was 2016 somewhere. I dont think I still have it.

I had the 5kva/4kw unit, you have a newer 5kw unit? I dont think it will be compatible.
