Mikhail Hathey got a reaction from AtishD in Geyser Monitoring OptionsI've been using a CBI Astute and I wish it had more detailed stats that one could look at daily. Also you need to register as a Developer on the Tuya IoT platform in order to link it to HomeAssistant. I think it may be better to go with a GeyserWise setup instead of just a Geyser Monitoring system like the Astute. It makes sense to be able to control the temperature as well which you can't do with the Astute or Sonoff.
If anyone else has better solutions for this I'll be keen to try them out, I'm looking at upgrading my CBI Astute to a Geyserwise soon.

Mikhail Hathey reacted to PsyCLown in Water Heating Options - Any SuggestionsWhat I have done installed a Sonoff timer for my 150L geyser, I replaced the 3KW element with a 2KW element and I have a schedule to turn the geyser on from 10.30am to 2.30pm as this is when I have peak PV generation and therefore I heat my water via the panels.
The 2KW element helps keep within the 5KW limit of the inverter and helps ensure I use as much of the PV as possible to heat the water and less from grid / battery.
EDIT: I have my theromostat set to max (70C) and there is a geyser blanket and this ensure that water remains hot enough to have a nice shower the next morning.

Mikhail Hathey reacted to cbrunsdon in Water Heating Options - Any SuggestionsBy installing the Gesyerwise with Tuya module, I gained valuable insights into my geyser's activity. The solar geyser isn't working because the anti-freeze needs to be replaced. But I've adjusted it to use the least amount of grid power when there's no sunshine.
Now my solar panels heat up the geyser to 65C during the day and Eskom 45C at night. Yeah, yeah, I hear the mother Grundies going on about legionnaires diseas, but a geyser cools down to lower than that multiple times in the day.
My geyser is on non-essential and my Deye inverter sends extra power to it. Electricity use is down enough to make a difference. Your mileage will differ, but we are saving R500 plus a month already.
* 4500W panels
* 8Kva Deye Inverter
* BX51100 battery 5Kw

With Solar Assistant you will have most relevant data as tables and/or graphs without any integration needed.
This is just an example of the Overview. The charts Tab allows you to drill down into the various data elements.

Mikhail Hathey got a reaction from WestCoastUPS in Luxpower sna5000 eps trips during loadsheddingSo just to confirm I change the Discharge Current Limit(Adc) from 110 to 50. It hasn't tripped in a while but if it does I will try this setting and let you know.

Mikhail Hathey got a reaction from Douw G. Gerber in Solar Assistant with Home Assitant for a LuxPower SNA 5000I'm interested in knowing if anyone has setup Solar Assistant with Home Assistant for a Luxpower SNA 5000?
It looks like a good way to add the Inverter to the Home Assistant Dashboard, if there are other ways I'd definitely be keen to try options.
So far this is the best one I've been recommended.

Shoto battery has recommended Discharge of 50A but is capable of maximum 100A. Default setting Id on SNA5000 is 110A. Set the discharge current to 50A and monitor it. Let us know the result.
