Grid Frequency drops to 0Hz

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone.

A few months ago, we had a power issue in our area. Eskom supplied 280v plus and the frequency was 0hz. Since this issue was resolved, we experience multiple drops per day.

My simpleton mind thinks the current effectively becomes DC if the poles stop switching. Is this correct?

Luckily, my inverter protects my house from this but I suspect it's a sign of a far bigger problem with the electricity supply. Does anyone know what causes this?

I appreciate any insight!
