solar powered phase in home

Featured Replies

hi

i would like to go solar and power essentials in my home with it. but what confuses me is that logically if all goes as i intend i would be effectively offgrid, even though i will have a grid backup.

from the research so far, i intend doing this using victron multiplus. but going to spend R100k on a setup i am concerned that i am hopefully making the right decision. the phase on this solar setup will be - lights, internet , tv, microwave, fridge, freezer (obviously all these are load dependent so i will start with TV, lights, internet, camera system)

the things that confuse me are

1) VIC-MULTIPLUS-48-5000-70-100 (is option i want to use)

is this a new or latest model inverter ? should i be trying to get a newer model ? i seen some post calling this (VIC-MULTIPLUS-48-5000-70-100) old ? should i get multiplus II perhaps ?

2) for what i am trying to do with making this new phase specifically solar powered which is essentially offgrid because i suppose most of the time batteries will be charged by solar and night power will be taken by batteries will the Axpert inverter be better suited than the multiplus ?

pic attached is what i put together so far. batteries will be 3 x 2.4kwh pylontech
