SOLAR LP
Hi, can someone that knows the regulations for City of Cape Town explain to me the situation regarding using an Axpert inverter solely as a UPS (only batteries no solar panels). So the Axpert is used as a UPS for load shedding, but there are no solar panels. Is a COC from the electrician that installed it all that is required, or is something else also required to be compliant? Thanks

The inverter is the interface between the embedded generator and the grid. If you don't have solar panels, you are not an embedded generator, and nobody cares what you do. Well... not exactly, you should still comply with SANS 10142-2-1 and technically the UPS should comply to the relevant SANS or IEC standards... but Cape Town is not going to police you on this. That's between you, your electrician, and the insurance company
