  1. I would like to get a 5kW system installed to help ease the pain of paying ridiculous tariffs. I have been told that I need to obtain permission from the municipality before installation takes places to avoid fines. Is this necessary for an off grid system? I am at ekurhuleni

  3. I've just gotten started with solar and I'm currently designing a residential installation (5kw from the load analysis). I've gone through the Ekurhuleni municipality's documents on SSEG requirements and have noticed that quite a lot of due diligence is required in addition to NRS and SANS regulations. Is it really worth the headache going grid tied if the benefits are so small? Main motivation for the desire to go grid tied was to avoid battery costs while reducing my monthly bill.
