Will the 2.2-3Kw inverter genny connected via the "gen" port on the inverter provide sufficient power to charge the batteries if there is no grid or PV power available. Maybe also an option where there are only backup battery solutions implemented.

It is a standard generator producing power - no batteries involved. Conventional generators use a mechanical alternator to produce alternating current (or AC) power that's ready to use. Inverter generators also use an alternator to produce AC power, but this current is converted into direct current (or DC), before a microprocessor inverts it back into cleaner AC power. I want to connect the generator to the "gen" port of the inverter which will then be able to work as alternative power source as the grid.

Good day all. I am planning to install a 8Kw Deye / Synsync Inverter with a 10.34 Kwh Volta battery and 12x550w panels. I want to use a Silent Inverter Generator as backup to charge the battery should there be a total Grid failure. I would appreciate your expert opinions whether this is feasible or not. If feasible, what would the minimum requirements be for a generator of this nature. TIA.

With the Tsunami of Solar installers and suppliers emerging in the current market conditions, the supply of "legitimate" solar hardware (inverters, panels & batteries) has become a mine field. I have read of several "grey" imports that have been flooding the market which are sometimes offered at ridiculous prices that blows your mind. I believe once you have procured a system from a solar installer that obtained the hardware from the "grey" line, the warranties and support becomes basically null and void. Is there not one place where it is easily to determine who the official distributors / wholesalers are of the Tier 1 brands, e.g. Synsync, Deye, Luxpower etc. etc.? The Sunsync website is the only manufacturer's site where it is clearly indicated who the official distributors are for inverters, panels and batteries. Thank you in advance.
