Busy reading the brochure you posted milespeters - thanks. I see they say it shouldn't be installed in daily living areas. Still, it's compact nature makes it easier to put in an out of the way place than with other systems. PS: Someone mentioned to me that you can't split essential and non essentials on it. Not sure if that's true or if it matters. 🤔

Hi Rosh, thanks for the perspective on this. I've always thought it looks like an easy compact option. Do you know if you can install it inside a living area without worrying about the firewall situation that's been cropping up with other inverter/battery set-ups?

My understanding is that Sunsynk make a combined ethernet/wifi dongle that you buy separately.🤔

I've been trying to find SANS documentation but it's proving to be difficult. I found the attached reference on a website for an organisation called SAPAC, published on 18 April. As you can see, the grammar isn't great so it isn't clear whether it's legit or not: The installation of inverter and battery should be done behind a 120min firewall outside the living space area to protect you as owner form fire and poisonous fumes that might rise from the system when there is a major fault, or an existing fire arise. I'm in exactly the same situation suds7162, except I don't have a garage so they want to install it outside in an outdoor equipment rack and I don't know which worries me more now, it being outside or inside. 😑 I've had over 12 quotes and only 1 has said it can't be inside so I don't know what the legalities are. If anyone knows or has paperwork, please share!

Hi everyone - thanks for the insights and tips - much appreciated! I've attached the two quotes: the first is the one for R135,000, which has the VAT included in the inventoried items. The second is the R180,000 one, which has the VAT added at the end. You'll see it's actually for R220,000 but it's for a 10,4kw battery so I estimated it would be about R180,000 or even R185,000 with a 5Kw battery. Quote 1.docx Quote 2.docx

Hello everyone - another newbie here. 👋 Thanks for the informative, supportive conversations.🙏 I'm seeking advice on the pricing of a solar set-up please. I'm wanting a 5kWh Sunsynk inverter, with one good quality 5kWh battery and 6 x 550W panels - with installation, COC and necessary municipal paperwork. The trouble is the quotes range so radically I don't know which are reasonable e.g in the solar section of ABSA's website they say it should cost about R88,000 when you put in your electricity usage for the month but the quotes I've been receiving are for a lot more and range radically from R135,000 to R180,000. What is a reasonable, fair price to pay for such a set-up do you think?
