I hope I can assist with my 5 cents worth of input (Sorry the other 5 cents was spent on more solar panels).
My Setup:
- Luxpower SNA 5000WPV
- 2 x Pylontech US3000C
- 8 x 550watt TW Panels.
I have been receiving Error Code 28 - EPS Load High whenever there is loadshedding during the daytime or when solar power is available but no AC / Grid Power. When the load exceeds the PV power generated then the EPS trips. This can be at high or even very small loads such as 300 watt. I then have to reset the inverter and it may even trip 3 to 4 times during loadshedding. It is very frustrating, because when I then turn off the PV switches the batteries will take over and I can draw 3.5kw easily from the two batteries with peak instantaneous loads of up to 7kw.
I read all the blogs, watched countless hours of Luxpower training, consulted all the manuals and even had 3 different installers look at the settings.
This is what I have done to date and it seems the issues have disappeared... let’s hope!
I have asked one of the Distributors for my own Installer profile as the End User profile has limited options when using a PC and browser. I understand Lux power is also able to assist with this if you have issues contacting your installer. With my own installer profile, I did an update of the Firmware (Please make sure you know how to do this as doing it wrong you can brick your inverter). I then tested and found 2 scenarios that would make the EPS trip during loadshedding. When there is AC power then everything runs fine. PV takes the load and charges the batteries and AC will take over when PV power is not sufficient. My batteries are only used for backup during loadshedding. So, I did the following: There is a setting under APPLICATION SETTINGS called PV GRID OFF. This was enabled and overlooked by all 3 installers. I understand this is used when you have a setup where you have no batteries installed. I disabled it and most of the EPS trips went away. As if the inverter was not allowed to use batteries when it was enabled. The other issue was to do with the AC Charge timings and I could not find any timings where the EPS does not trip. I then changed it to Charge from AC - According to SOC, which is the recommended setting for Lithium Batteries. My inverter EPS voltage output was also set at 240V and I changed it to 230V as the manual indicates it should be. Since then, I have not had any issues except for the AC Charge only starting when the batteries reach a certain SOC (50% in my case). So, at night when Eskom is on then I would do a manual quick charge to keep the batteries full and ready for the next loadshedding period. My batteries seldomly go below 70% btw as I do not use that much power at night. I will still play around with the % for when the AC starts charging (maybe 90%) and see if the batteries stay full and that it does not interfere with the issues mentioned above.
