  1. Morning all. So I have trauled the forum a little and found alot of topics touching on this matter, but I havent found my definitive answer as yet. So total noob question (why Im here)... I have LuxPower 5000 series inverter, that allows for a generator input. Can I connect (via manual changeover switch) a 7kW generator to it solely for the purpose to charge the battery? I purchased the system with the intention to run our basic appliances through loadshedding, which it does beautifully. Even the 4hour shedding leaves me at 60% which is perfect. But, of recent weeks (and I dont think it will get any better) we have had around 12 - 16 hours down time in a single run, per day (2/4hr shed then as power comes back it drops again for extensive periods). Sometimes our area would be off for 2-3 days at a time. So of course my 5kVa system with a single battery is just not able to keep up, and I would like to try and charge without having to invest further in solar pv. I already have the generator to run our borehole pump and pressure pump, geyeser etc. Is the connection of the Generator input on my inverter as simple as plug and play? Any advice appreciated - just not bad one - haha.

  3. Hi. Did you ever mange to set this up? I also need to connect our 7kVA generator to our 5kva luxpower inverter. Is it as simple as plug and play or is there more involved than that?
