terribleocotopus got a reaction from Scorp007 in Sunsynk 3.6kw + battery, charge if exporting?
    Hey - thanks.
It's a 5.2kw array, split into a south-string with 7 panels and a west-string with 6 panels. The grid tied is a Growatt MIN 4600TL XE. Start voltage on that is 100V.
I get paid more for export (15p) in the day than I do for import overnight (8p), so topping the battery up with excess solar is really to avoid heavier use evenings where I may end up importing on the on-peak rate (29p), saving some money even with the opportunity cost of lost export. Because of the export rate, I would lose money using only solar to charge the battery instead of making the most of charging off-peak, and using grid to top up the battery late in the afternoon I'd really like to avoid as that cycles the battery without really saving me anything, as I could just use that import later in the evening directly if no battery available.
Noted re: sunshine vs PV forecast, I'll check that out! Thanks. If I end up automating SoC % via Home Assistant I'll play with that.
