I found that installing the units in doors such as a garage especially in coastal environments helps to dehumidify the garage as the heat pumps draws out moisture from the air, however the cold air has to be ducted out doors to avoid the heat pump to cavitate. Installing it on the roof is fine however inside the roof or ceiling is challenging especially when it comes to servicing and repairs. Servicing usually is only to clean the heat pump head once a year and to make sure the evaporator coil is clean. It shouldn't cost an arm or leg for servicing, air con technicians should be able to service it the same time as when you service the airconditioners in your house.
