Ndlovu reacted to TaliaB in Panels Sizes ,fuses and breakersI did not specify any fuse rating in my reply to the op but since you are on the subject of fuse ratings within a solar array or fusing per string. Fuses in all combiners are rated above the ISC rating of a string it is there to protect the cable should something weird happen. Combiners are designed for ease of connecting multiple strings to either connect them as 1 or 2 series strings to the scc or to parallel multiple string before it enters the scc. As for 3P connection as you suggested there need to be series fusing on each panel as the combined current could exceed the current rating of the solar panel in the event of backfeed on a faulty solar cell or panel. In essence in series strings the fuses are not actually necessary as long as there is an solar isolator to isolate the solar array from the scc for maintenance or emergency.
