Well, it has been a year since I posted this... So may as well try again. Anyone have a old, non-working mecer pouch cell battery? Want to try replace the cells on one of my batteries which failed...

The SmartESS app did not show any load or grid for me either. The only way I got it to work was running through Modbus. I now have full load and grid details from my inverter. Just make sure you are running the cable provided (RJ45) from the inverter to the battery. And set the comms protocol to 485 and BMS to PAC.

So I thought I would do a quick update on my progress with getting information from my 8kw OmniVolt. Happy to report that I have everything I need! All up and running when I workout what addresses were... What pain. But I have uploaded a Modbus reference document for all the addresses I used and what they mean, as well as their unit and scale factor... This should be helpful if anyone needs to get their inverter info into HA . If you find any errors, let me know and I will update it! I am happy to share my config yaml if anyone needs it, as well as my dashboard yaml. Ignore the fault... The inverter still seems to be acting weird with the SoC of the battery. I currently have it connected through 485, and WOW. I have attached some screenshots of my dashboard showing everything working . Still lots to mess around with, but this is a good start! That is really interesting. I have my parameter 32 set as SLA. I hadn't tried connecting the BMS to the inverter externally, as I would have throught it would have been wired internally. Weirdly, the inverter is showing the correct SoC in the SLA setting, as the values in the BMS and inverter match up fine. Par 33 is set to WOW, which is the SNRE inverter comms. Update on my Modbus comms. I still cannot get it to connect through the RS485 port to USB (using an adapter). Have switched the pins 7 (D+) and 8 (D-) around just incase, but still nothing. I am using Baud 9600, 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit. I have tried slave 1 and 2, and messed around with all the different baud rates available. Will try again a bit later, but properly banging my head here. Wondering how the SA manages to communicate :/

@Henrdrik I will send you my settings when I am done with work a bit later. I also recall I was getting faults when I had no grid connected, but these went away after I attached grid (although I was changing the settings at the same time).

Thanks @RoelofDeJager! Guess I need to get SA, or I need to mess around with Modbus and try get these values. I wonder how the managed to break this on the ESS app 🙈

@RoelofDeJager are you managing to pull in the load and grid information from the inverter with SA? That is the one thing that is driving me up the wall, and I have asked the techs to resolve this issue, with no luck. I can only currently view PV and Battery data on the app (or using the IPower windows app connected by USB -B). I am not running SA (yet), but if you getting the load values, then I know my next step 😅

Ok so I will give a bit of an update on my 8kw OmniVolt. I have installed everything and am running 6 x 600w panels through the one MPPT. Solar is working great. Had a few niggles with the programming and discharge of the battery. I have found that the inverter is an SRNE, specifically the ASF48100s200-H (can be seen on the comms PCB and Inverter PCB). This is the same one that is in the Sun Gold Power inverters. Seems to be a pretty good inverter from what I can find online. I have attached the manual which has ALL the information and settings 😅. This should make everyones life a bit easier. The ASF number actually corresponds with the 10kw inverters, so I would assume they just using a downrated 10kw in the 8kw Omnivolt... If your battery is discharging to 10% like mine was, you need to update parameters 58 onwards (look in the manual). These are the SoC values, where all the earlier values correspond to voltage. I am still having some weird things happening, like it changed the communication between the inverter and the BMS back to RS485, instead of keeping it on SLA. The last issue I am having is that the ESS app does not show any of the LOAD states. I can get the BMS and Solar info, but nothing on the load. I have also tried using the IPower App which communicates with SRNE inverters, but I can also only see BMS and solar info. Not sure if everyone else is managing to see the load information? I also took delivery of my 8kw unit yesterday 🎉 And the box did indeed look like they had dragged it out of a war... I powered mine on to test it, and it started up great thankfully! Ran through the menu with my brother (JaseZA) and he thinks its a Voltronic unit due to the menu being the same 😅 Will look at getting mine mounted in the coming weeks... Flipping heavy @122kgs. I did not have a warranty sticker on my unit at all 😶

So I am the brother 😅 They confirmed my order will arrive in Durban (Westville) on the 23rd. Let us know the SoC and what was in the box (according to builders there should have been a number of installation items). Also, are you able to share the specs on the inverter (I bought the 8kw, but interested about the others too)? Want to start looking at what panels I can use with this.

Soooo... No old Mecer batteries (with pouches) gathering dust anywhere?? 🙈

Item Wanted: Looking for an old, or stripped Mecer Second Life LIFEPO4 battery... need to find two pouch cells to replace two of cells that have died in my DIY pack (48v) Packaging Essential: I will take what I can get... Desired Age: If it has more than 3v on a load, its better than what I have! Location: Preferrably Durban, but beggars can't be chosers... Willing to accept a shipped item: Yes Ballpark/Budget Amount: I have no idea what the rate for a used pouch cell would be... You let me know what you want for it! Basically my DIY 48v battery pack has died due to two of the cells hitting low voltage on any load (I am using a MaYi-BMS). So would love to try replace the pouch cells and see if I can get some more life out of this thing... Don't really want to buy a new/ secondhand battery if I can keep mine going a bit longer! My battery was created using 4 12v 200 Ah Mecer batteries... I am open to any other suggestions right now as well 😅
