  1. We stayed in a 2-bedroom cottage close to Knysna in December, and they are using a SunSynk Powerlynk all-in-one solution (inverter and battery in a single unit). Not sure of the size, but it's one of these (the attached photo is the actual unit): https://www.solar-shop.co.za/search?controller=search&s=powerlynk There were no issues with the actual power during our stay, but the unit has a fan that was somewhat distracting in the open plan unit. It did not stay on for long periods at a time, though.
  2. Got it, thank you. One has to add a Home first (Home Management) before the Scene options become available.
  3. An update - I've bought one which was installed this weekend. So far, so good. However, it does not switch the geyser on once loadshedding ends, will only do so at the start of the next 'ON' schedule. But that's not an issue, it's easy enough to manage (either on the DB board or via their app).
  4. According to their website, the settings are stored in the cloud (on their servers), and picked up as soon as power is restored and the controller connects via WiFi again. Not sure how it retains the WiFi settings, though. Astute FAQ
  5. I'm looking for a timer solution for our geyser, currently looking at these options: a) Astute Smart Controller with an ACDC contactor b) Sonoff Basic4R with an ACDC contactor c) Standalone Astute Smart Controller The ASC can handle 30A, what benefits are there in using it in conjunction with a contactor? Context: we are on a Deye 5KW inverter with a 5KW battery, and the idea is to switch the geyser off when solar is not available.
