Does order matter when overload protection is required

Featured Replies

Eg. geyser timer, earth leakage, changeover switches etc all require overload protection. Is there any reason why it cannot be on the output side of the earth leakage or changeover switch etc.

e.g. you have a 20a changeover switch and on the output you link a 20a single pole mcb. I have seen a lot of dbs with the earth leakage first and then a single pole mcb afterwards labelled "mains".

That depens on the type of E/L being used. Some have overload protection and some don't.

The E/L with overload protection doesn't need a main breaker, but the one without overload protection must have a main breaker.

Yes I understand that, but the question is can the mains first go into the EL and then into the main breaker and then into your live busbar?
