January 30, 20233 yr I have a 3.5KVA generator, but when I try and charge the batteries (through the GRID, using a change-over switch which I used before installing solar), the inverter pulls too much power and the generator cuts out. I have a 5KW Sunsynk inverter. The inverter shows power coming from the Grid, but 20seconds later, the generator cuts out. Which settings do I need to change? I do not mind changing it back after I am done charging with the generator This is the first time in the year that I have had the Sunsynk that I ran out of battery and needed to top it up.

Or you can rather connect it to the Aux port, set the Aux port shaving to 3000W, and do the same. I prefer using the Aux, less fiddly, less to change and then change back again.
