February 5, 20233 yr I am trying to make sense of a range of quotes for installation of a standard inverter/battery/solar setup (8kw hybrid inverter, 10kwh of battery, 6.5kw PV on a single north-facing roof). The fully bundled costs are coming in at R60k to R70k more than the cost of the inverter/batteries/panels accessible direct to the public by reputable retailers. I realise that the cables/mounting gear/combiner boxes/certificates/switches/fuses/battery brackets etc. all add up, but 1) what would be a reasonable and fair ball park for the additional costs for a standard setup as described accepting that site unseen it is difficult to be precise, and how much of that for additional materials versus labour? 2) are there installers who will charge just for the installation if the client has procured the inverter/panels/batteries directly and is willing to handle warranty issues with the suppliers? 3) Is route (2) above advisable even if slightly cheaper? Thanks for any advice received.
