Gate Motors

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Question:

Can I connect a solar panel to a gate motor without removing the original charging system?

In other words, keep the AC to the motor that runs the gate charging circuit and when the AC falls away the solar panel takes over.

Thanks in advance.

We had a system installed at our complex, you can imagine how busy that gate is, and with loadshedding those gel batteries didn't cut it,  so you have two panels connected to a PWM solar charge controller connected to two batteries connected to the gate motor, just make sure to check the gate motor's documentation, I know Centurion actually sells their own addon solar charge controllers etc.  We swapped to lithium batteries as well recently and added a voltage regulator.
