Hi Guys

I wanted to get some info on adding the following to my gate motor, while keeping the AC Charging as well, using a gel battery.

1. 30W Solar Panel

2. 20A Charge Controller

 

I wanted to get some feedback from anyone that has done this before. Can you just directly connect the battery outputs on the Charge controller directly to the battery terminals? When grid is available it should do most of the charging and the charge controller should back off ?

The charge Controller should regulate to ensure the battery doesn't overcharge, but wanted to get some real world info on who has done this and were there any hiccups etc?
