JBD BMS relay issue

Featured Replies

So I'm nearing the end of my electric boat build. My battery pack is done, using 16 x EVE280K cells, and the 3KVA 48V Victron inverter is hooked up, motors are running, it's just solar panels and MPPTs left.

The trouble is the JBD BMS disconnects the relay when there's no load, and this causes the voltage to drop around 2V. It immediately reconnects jumps up 2V and then disconnects and repeats continuously. This throws the inverter into a spin and it won't switch on until I start one of the electric motors to create another load and settle the voltage..

My research has sent me to a post on DIYsolarforum where it looks like there's a setting in the BMS tools app called "FET ctrl". By default it's set to 0 so it cuts on no load straight away. What I need to do is change that to as big a number as possible and the problem will go away. Trouble is I'm in a small town in Croatia and I don't have access to a USB to UART connector, and I need to move the boat before I head back to SA at the end of the month, so I'd like to avoid this happening when the solar cancels out the power draw.

I know the best software experts in this area are on this forum, does anyone know of a way I can adjust that field using bluetooth? It's not on the XiaoXiang or the OverkillSolar app. I'm happy to use my android, my wifes iphone or a windows or linux pc if that helps. I also have a USB to serial cable I use on Cisco switches if that can be made to connect to the BMS.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Patrick
