KOOL Energy Inverter Trolley 1KW 100AH: Replace the Gel battery with a Lithium

Featured Replies

Good morning

My inverter just don't last during this load shedding and I'm thinking of putting in a Lithium battery.

my question: Can you replace it ? and will a Lithium be better?  or should I just stick with a Gel ?   not even sure if these trolley units will allow a battery change.

This is what we have, we only have our internet modum and tv running through this trolley unit.

thanks for your advice

This plug and play inverter is easily transported to where ever you need it and its compact size makes it easy to store away when not in use.

Its plug-and-play ability makes it the perfect companion during load shedding and it will run your essential loads. This unit does not need to be installed so you won’t have to spend on solar installations which makes it even more cost-effective.

I do not know that trolley inverter but one must be able to replace the battery - you likely just remove the screws and it will come apart, giving you access to the battery.

Generally speaking LiFePO4 is seen as a swap in replacement for lead acid, the only issues with some inverters is that the cut off voltage and charge voltage is something too low so it may not charge the lithium battery to 100% and in some cases it may allow the battery to discharge too low and trigger the BMS inside the battery turning off and sometimes this would require the battery to be removed and jumped to get it started so you can charge it via the inverter again.

if you are able to adjust the voltage settings on your inverter, then that is even better!

thanks PsyClown, The inverter got a GEL battery inside, we are not living in the "big city" to just take it in, we are on a plattelandse dorpie and TakeaLot is our shop.
this is all I can see.

Hi Morney

Yes you can install a lithium battery for the inverter, should not be difficult to open it and replace the battery with a lithium.

IF you don't  want to spend too much money you can order a 50ah battery from Geewiz for like R3510 with free delivery

Thanks Chris, I'm "technically" challenged, what is the main difference between a 50 and 100AH... (In afrikaanse taal , sodat ek kan verstaan)

My inglish is not so delicious 🤣

Hi Guys, Richard here. I only understand English. I would like to know if the same applies to a KAPA Energie-1000 with a GEL battery. Can it be swapped out for a Lithium 100AH battery?

Regards,

Richard

Hi Richard,

I'm about to attempt the same thing for a friend so i'll let you know how it pans out. My understanding is that basically these "all in one" stand alone back up trolleys are all pretty much the same....some better than others. Many are actually the exact same unit just branded differently. In theory yes, should not be a problem to swap out a lead acid/gel battery for an equivalent lithium or iron phosphate replacement. In practice however....could be another story. I'll post an update as soon as I can 😉

Regards

Darren
