February 11, 20242 yr I am still quite new, I just want to check is this is normal. My SNA5000 has no problem carrying all my normal household loads during loadshedding. But it has been cloudy all day and this morning my inverter tripped when I started my vacuum cleaner and now again when I started my chainsaw. I checked several times, it starts ok when the sun peeks out, byt purely off the battery, nope. I have a Dyness 4.8 battery with the discharge limit set to 40A in the inverter. I know things with electric motors draw a lot during startup, but I did not think it would trip the inverter.

One can be 90% sure your vacuum cleaner as well as chain saw has a surge power that exceeds the 1920W that the 40A setting from the battery allows.
February 11, 20242 yr Author Thank you. I think you may be correct. I have now changed it to 50A - the battery's max. But I still have the same problem. But that is only 2400W, Still too little I think. I will have to live with it for now, No money for another battery. Although I see the prices have come down a lot recently.
February 11, 20242 yr Author Yep, only checked now. That saw has a 2kw motor. So it surges more than the battery can deliver for sure.

Yes that is the problem with a 0.5C battery. It is allowed to use 100A for 15sec. So may be you can change the setting only for when you want to try and use the saw. I would however limit the use of the saw to periods when you have grid. Not worth it to risk overloading the battery.
