January 21, 20197 yr @Colin, I haven't had experience with anything else. I have Kwikot tubes and I have had no issues, would do it again.
February 1, 20197 yr Take a normal Kwikot geyser and use this as geyser ( of shelf type item , cheaper and easier to replace) and a flat plat vs evacuated tube , performance diff only visible in winter and transition months ( ie autum) Flat plat , properly sized ( 2m2 for 150 lt) and installed facing north allways work ...the evacuated tubes might add a couple degrees mor ein winter but this become a costing issue Regards TTF

I found over the years in CoCT's winter rainfall that EV tubes works a lot better than my pals whom opted for flat panels. No hard data for that statement, just "over a beer boasting" on what temps we all saw. Took me, with changes in habits ito showering times, +-24 months to recoup on our EV tube system costs way back when it was installed. Today we use Eskom maybe 5 -15 days or whatnot per year to heat the water. You have to manually switch it on. Since the water issues, not once have we needed Eskom to heat our geyser. But say I was in JHB, then o yes, would most definitely have gone for flat panels, as there they don't have rain in winter. Or do I have it wrong?
