March 5, 20242 yr Need some opinion about which way to mount half-cut solar panels. The lower portion of the panel will get some shading during winter season and I'm confused whether mounting in portrait is better than landscape. My understanding was that if a row of panels was getting shade on the bottom 1/4 part, then mounting half-cut panels in Portrait would mean that lower portion of the panels will produce reduced output, but upper would still make full output. However, as per this video, unless the lower-half of half-cut panel is fully covered, it will result in equivalent losses as that of a regular non-half-cut panel. Is that true? If so, is it still better to mount the panels in portrait or would landscape orientation result in same output?
