October 8, 20241 yr I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I’m having a hard time to use the city of Cape Town website to be able to register my inverter so what I’ve tried to do so far , I’ve registered on the coct portal and applied for energy services once I was approved I saw the house address wasn’t showing on the profile under energy services , I called the number on the site and basically it came down to that the house is on a trust and I need to register it as a business ( so I’m told ) I’ve sent everything on the website but it was rejected , and I knew it would be rejected because on the online form it was asking me for business registration number etc which isn’t applicable it’s been a few months since my last attempt to register it , does anyone know how I should do it ? side note I do have a engineer that will be doing the process for me , but he says he needs a proxy and to apply for a proxy I need to do it on the energy service tab but again like I said my house isn’t listed any advice is appreciated
November 4, 20241 yr The Mayco member for Energy for CCT is Xanthea Limberg. You can mail her executive support officer, [email protected], who will direct it to one of the officials to assist you directly.
November 11, 2025Nov 11 I had the same issue when trying to register a property held in a family trust. What eventually worked for me was asking the city to link the erf to my personal profile through their support desk before doing anything else. Once they linked it on their side, the proxy option finally appeared and my installer could take over the application without trouble.
