Growatt SPF 3500 ES 100%-94% charging and discharging oscillations

Featured Replies

Please, help me understand why Growatt SPF3500ES fluctuates SOC from 94% to 100% all the time. I use it with Dyness B4850 battery connected via CAN and set up as Li52. I'm attaching the battery SOC graph.

It's a Growatt bespoke algorithm.
They maintain that it's better for Li batteries to float down to 95% and then recharge to 100% than to float at 100% continuously. As soon as your batteries are at 100%, they power the Inverter even if there is enough solar.
I have tried arguing with them, to no avail.  Do they or anyone else have enough long term data to compare battery life when using either or? I doubt that
That's what their inverters are programmed to do and they won't change it.
Only way to stop that is to use one of the USE modes.

That's what I was afraid of. Thank you very much for clarifying. Do you use USE modes and are there any downsides to using it instead of relying on BMS connection?
