Kodak OG 5.48 + Pylontech UP5000 keeps switching between grid and battery

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I’m hoping someone here can help me out because this is driving me insane.

I’ve got a Kodak OG 5.48 inverter with one Pylontech UP5000 battery (connected via RS485) and six panels. The system works, but it just won’t stop switching between grid and battery over and over.

Here’s what happens:

  • It runs on battery until it hits around 48V, then switches to grid.

  • Almost immediately after that, the voltage jumps back up to 50–51V, so the inverter switches back to battery.

  • A minute or two later it drops again, and the cycle repeats.

It’s basically going click-click-click between grid and battery all night.

My current settings:

  • Battery type: Pylon

  • Mode: SBU

  • Cut-off: 45V

  • Back to grid: 48V (won’t let me go lower)

  • Back to discharge: FULL (tried 50V too)

  • Float/Bulk: 53.2V

  • Max charge current: 25A

  • Max AC charge: 30A

The battery charges fine and gets to 100%, no error codes, everything “works” — but this flipping is ridiculous.

Has anyone else with this combo had the same issue? Is there any way to stop it from constantly switching? I’m guessing it’s something to do with the Pylon BMS overriding things, but I can’t be sure.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alex
