May 31, 20206 yr It has taken quite some time, but finally the minister of finance has approved the budget for an upgrade/enhancement Current Equipment RCT-Axpert 5K 4 x AGM Batteries 100Ah Dedicated DB for Inverter IN/OUT puts with circuit breakers Prepaid Electricity meter feeding main board All circuits (excluding geyser) can be fed by the Axpert in case of load shedding / power failure - we manage 4 hours on LED lights, DSTV and 2 x LED TV's UPGRADE 1. Install 12 x Canadian 410W Solar Super High Power Poly PERC HiKU Solar Panel with MC4 4 x facing North East - max roofspace for panels. These would be 12-14m from the inverter and batteries 8 x facing North West - can install up to 16 panels. These would be 10-12m from the inverter and batteries 2. Install 2 x Dyness B3 3.6kWh Lithium-Ion Batteries 3. Install additional MPPT - see questions for more details 4. Future (not today slave Inverter (Axpert / Kodak ?) Some questions: 1. I am in two minds how to run the strings (2 x serial panels and 2 x parallel panels per string?) This would mean at least 3 strings which means a change of MPPT. 2. What would be a value for money MPPT given that I might end up with 5 strings or an MPPT that can handle bigger strings 3. I have seen that there is a move to micro MPPT's (1/string) - what are the pro's and cons? 4. Does the orientation of the panel matter (i.e. the N/E string will be orientated portrait and the N/W landscape due to available roof space) Any other recommendations would be appreciated Tks
