Hi everyone, I'm very new at solar here and I'm just wondering if I can optimize my solar panel use.
Just to give you a background, I've got a "dual solar" panel setup:
1) 6x 550W panels connected (via DC DB including: DC breaker, Surge arrestor and Fuse) to a Deye 5kw inverter (PV input 1) and battery
2) 4x 550W panels connected (via another DC DB as above) to an Elon Smart thermostat on my geyser. The geyser reaches temperature by about midday (sunny days), thus wasting my panels for the rest of the day.
Now my question is, can I connect the 4 "geyser" panels to the PV2 input on the Deye? And if so, how?
Scenario 1: Would I just be able to connect another solar wire to the output from the DC DB and connect this to the Deye PV2 input? In this way the thermostat will "share" power with the inverter, and once the thermostat is at temperature all the power will be pushed to the inverter. Or do I understand this incorrectly?
Scenario 2: Install a 2-pole transfer switch after the DC DB where one output would go to the geyser and the second will go to the inverter. Obviously the disadvantage of this is that I'll need to manual transfer the power between the two. Thus I favour the previous option if possible.
I'll obviously get an electrician to do the work - but their heads tend to spin when they see the Elon Smart Thermostat, so I need to have an understanding if it's possible or not.
