  7. Hi all, I am finally ready to bite the bullet and install a simple loadshedding kit. I am looking at the Sunsynk 5KW hybrid inverter and the Hubble 2.75Kw Lithium battery from the power forum store. I am supplied directly from Eskom so the price per kWh is still relatively low so I'm not looking at solar panels just yet but I do want the flexibility to add them later on. We are only loadshed for 2.5 hours at the moment. Heaters and stove are gas. I am only looking to be able to run about 20 led downlighters (maybe 4w each), standard wifi router, LED TV and a CPAP (for sleep apnea) machine at night. I would just want to confirm that the 2.75kw battery would be more than sufficient to power these devices for 4 hours (assuming we will hit level 4 at some stage this winter)? And secondly, is there any good reason to swop the Sunsynk for a Victron Multiplus, the latter being quite a bit more expensive? I can't really see that you get many additional features with the Victron except maybe build-quality and excellent branding? Goes without saying that I am a noob. Thanks in advance! Stephen

  9. Good evening all, I'm a total layman just trying to help out a friend, any advice offered will be greatly appreciated. I have no technical knowledge and based on the advice I get, I will definitely not be attempting any of this myself. Thanks in advance. I have a friend who stays in an area with frequent substation sabotage which generally lasts the whole night. Its a normal sized residential property, electric fence, led floodlights, CCTV and optex alarm beams. The problem is that the DB Board is in the lounge and after renovations its located on a wall which is just narrow enough for the DB Board with maybe 10cm either side. There is no space for a battery-cabinet sized to pylon tech and there is no roof-space. The entire house has just been renovated to open-plan and given the location of the DB Board it doesn't look like there is space (leave aside the aesthetics) for an inverter and battery backups. My question is. Where the main electricity supply enters her property which is at her driveway gate (about 40 meters from the house), could we not install a new DB Board, Inverter and battery backup in a pre-fabricated "guard hut" or similar type structure? Or what should we do? Thanks in advance guys. Stephen
