    Have you tried to start the pump say after 11h on a sunshine day. This to ensure battery is recharged after the night before. Also keep it on SBU. 
    Then if the inverter trips try it with the generator running under USB as you suggested. 
    Have you tested that the generator is actually used as grid on the inverter? If not try it with a light load like fridges to see that it works. These inverters can be fussy about the quality if supply.

    Ok will try when we have blue sky again. Have not connected the genny to the inverter to test , but will give it a try. Thank you for your advice.
