Hi clever people
Complete solar novice here. Yesterday I had an 8kw Hybrid System installed (8kw Deye Hybrid inverter, 2 x Pylontech UP5000 batteries and 12 x 540W JA Solar panels).
The purpose of the system is to combat loadshedding and simultaneously reduce electricity bill as much as possible through the most efficient use of the system.
As far as I can tell, the batteries are permanently at 100% charge (no loadshedding since installation) and during the day household is being powered either completely from the panels or supplemented by the grid at times of high load / low sun.
According to the installer, the system requires no input in terms of settings and is "smart" enough to work everything out on its own. Am I correct in saying that without "telling" it what to do in terms of the "Time Of Use" settings in "System Work Mode", the batteries will only ever be utilised during outages and the system will never reach full efficiency as load will not draw from the batteries at night?
If so, does anyone have a suggested go to "template" of settings to input into the "System Work Mode" to ensure efficiency as well as sufficient battery back up charge during times of loadshedding? (i.e at what battery level it should charge from the grid during the respective time periods). Also, should the Energy Pattern be set to "Battery first" or "Load First"?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Here's a couple pics of what I'm referring to:
