  1. This really helps Peter!! I will investigate the CT option. Will make sense in the long run anyway. Thanks again and take care.

  3. Hi Peter, Appreciate the insights. My geyser is only set to go on in the morning. I have the timer for the element to start around 5am and to achieve about 65deg. Im the first to go in the shower and around 6pm the temp is near 65. After about a 5 minute shower, the temp drops to 33 which allows for another shower, maybe 2 but we pushing it. Sometimes we switch on the geyser after im finished if both my son and wife needs to use it immediately after. Other than that, the element is off for the day, even in winter. No showers in the evening. Still not convinced the geyser is causing this. My new bill arrived for June and its a shocking 3k for electricity. We have a gas stove and gas heater so not contributing to the usage. If you say the pump is low usage, then the municipality is charging me incorrectly.
  4. Hi Peter. This makes sense to not freeze the collector. So this shouldn't happen out of winter. Do you think the pump(12v) could contribute to the electricity usage increase?I have a watt plug so I can connect this if it's merely a plug from the unit. Thanks .
  5. My unit starts running the pump early parts of morning when the solar collrctor is 4 degrees and geyser is 30. Shouldn't it only run if the collector is higher than the geyser and mine is set st 7deg. During the day the pump works unusually often. The pump will work for about 4 times before the values can change and by 1 deg only.My electricity bill is 2k more for the last 2 months and I'm sure it's related to this. Bad pump or setup issue?
  6. So I recently upgraded to a Geyserwise solution. My setup is Solar collector, 200lt geyser, 12v battery and pump with dedicated solar panel. Was only installed last week and been noticing big differences from my old SR81 unit. I only use the morning timer and initially set it to run for an hour to heat up to around 60deg. Before I shower I notice that it's about 50ish. I then changed the timer to start 2 hours earlier but it does the same thing. The other issue I have is that when I step into the shower, being the first one, the temp after drops to about 35. This is a quick shower and I keep the faucet in the middle so don't use very hot water. Now, Im comparing this to my previous unit which would heat up from 30 to 60 deg in about an hour and after a single shower, temp will be low 50s. Something doesn't feel right. Is this normal?
  7. Can anyone please suggest a tech that can do this for me. Based in gp
  8. My panel is totally dead on the SR81. Decided to change entire system to Geyserwise max. I'm not a plumber/electrician but since everything is already installed, it seems straight forward. Is it the same connections as my current unit? I don't have a battery installed which I'm keen on doing this time around. .
  9. Having 2 batteries will increase the price considerably and will be out of my budget. I guess that it doesn't limit me to upgrade in the future though. I can always add another battery. I think will explore the option of buying items myself and having someone install them. Obviously warranty included in the deal. Having the option of getting the hardware at cost will most likely put my in a position to get what you advised above. My roof orientation should be fine. I will consider the Luxpower for growth. Do you have any options and installers I can consider? Based in Gp. Thank you
  10. Didn't know this. Thanks
  11. My thoughts as well. Thanks
  12. Hi. We have decided on a 5KW solar setup inverter that connects to our DB. Its only 3 of us and require TV, Surround Sound, Airfyer, Fan, XBOX, 2 fridges, 2 laptops and screens , lights including garage motor and solar pump for geyser. There are so many options on the net and very confusing. I have found the following options and wondering whether it will be suitable. Our budget is about 70K. Might even consider doing the solar panels at a later stage. Growatt 5KW Lithium-ion Solar Conversion Kit – Next Gen Solar 5.5KW LUXPOWER DYNESS 5.12 | Solar Suppliers (solarwaysuppliers.co.za) There is also an option to buy the items at cost from a relative in Durban and have it installed by a professional. Haven't explored this option yet to understand the cost savings. Will the installers provide a guarantee if they don't supply the hardware? Thanks

  20. Hi. Is there a smart device that I can hook up to my dB board to measure total consumption?
  21. Will certainly do so. Makes sense. Power consumption aside, would you recommend gel or lithium and any particular model of inverter? Tx
  22. Hi. So we finally decided to invest in an inverter. There are so many options out there and not cheap so want to make the right purchase. I need the following to be available for atleast 4 hours during darkness. 65 inch Samsung LED TV(2018 spec) PS4(not pro) 12 port HP POE Switch Proving network to all my devices but only sending power to 1 x Unify AC Pro AP 2015 Shield Denon 2400 receiver Velodyne 12 inch Sub( not necessary but will be great) HP Laptop and 24 inch monitor 1 x light ( still need to purchase one for the lounge. Any recommendations will be appreciated) i5 Desktop and 18 inch monitor occasional charging for cellphones My ONT and router is already being powered by a DC UPS in my bedroom and works great. Budget is around 8k and want it to last atleast 4 years. Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you
