  1. That does seem to be favoured. Since HA has a docker version and I already have a Linux server it seemed worth a shot. I'll speak to the installers if I don't come right here. They've been very willing to discuss options, and look into possible solutions to my niche requirements..
  2. Apologies if this has already been asked and answered. I couldn't find anything. I'm getting solar panels installed next week with an Axpert VM3 3kVA, to keep my 2 x 12V LiFePO4 batteries charged. And maybe heat up a cup of coffee in the microwave on clear winter days I'm keen to connect the Axpert to my server over wifi, and view charging status and available PV via Home Assistant on my phone. At this stage I'm looking for a wifi dongle purely to send output from the Axpert to the server and Home Assistant. Money is tight so I don't want to buy a Raspberry Pi. I found this but the description is very brief and the one review is bad. Any advice? Thanks!
  3. I was fairly lucky then. I had a similar setup to your original one that lasted almost three years with a lot of nursing. But Stage 6 is the pits. My problem is that I've just invested in 12V lithiums, so I would need to buy another two to reach the 48V required to integrate with solar. I may stick with my existing setup for quite a while still as I'll lose heavily if I sell them now
  4. Hi all! I'm new to this forum but have been posting over on mybroadband trying to get my head around the transition. I have two 218Ah batteries and a small inverter (Mecer 2400) that is not designed to be part of a solar installation. So far I'm happy with my system, but in about 6 months when I have the money I plan to install panels and upgrade the inverter. The aim is to meet my basic power needs from my panels when possible, and keep the batteries topped up for use at night. With two of us working from home we need about 500W for a laptop and second screen, desktop computer, router and ONT and LED lights in several rooms. The geyser is on solar heating, and the stove has a gas hob so we're comfortable at the moment. But with constant loadshedding for the foreseeable future I'm in research mode😀 I'm going to hang out here and read up before jumping in. At the moment I don't understand what the main components of a full solar installation are, and how they would mesh with my existing setup. But looking forward to learning from you kind folk!!
