  1. True! I do patch during my own testing and can make some parameter changes but this is a commercial product range and I have to have it all officially done. The relays are certified for up to 40A @ 280Vac so they will do fine. I have added an inverter soft start parameter which closes the output relay early to help with inductive loads. It definitely helps with huge banks of LED lights. I will keep this thread updated with any developments.
  2. I do not own the EP for the FW but work closely with the designers and our manufacturers in China. I give them the requirements and they make the changes and I approve them after testing. About a year ago, we started a project (Project Xanadu) to design an inverter based on later and more readily available CPU's and chose the same family that is used a lot in the automotive industry for their braking and adaptive cruise control. The logic was that if the CPU was reliable enough to handle critical systems in a vehicle it should prove to be ideal for consumer power control. Of course Voltronic and the many Voltronic clones are sold in abundance in South Africa so the LinkQnet product and Xanadu arrived under their shadow but it is great product and has proved to be very reliable. On the technical side, the power logic is similar to the Voltronic VM HV MPPT but the CPU's, sampling and control is different. I think Voltronic use TI TMS320F2809 while Xanadu has a ST STM32G473CT6. The latter is faster and uses ECC and redundant watchdog timers but the TI is good with control loops - so I am told. The CPU decision for Xanadu was based on general availability, reliability and performance. I have noted your expertise and involvement in this forum and often tried your FW contributions and ideas on the Voltronic products so your input, as well as other advanced members' ideas, is highly valued with regards to this concept. Our local authorities have effectively shut down an entire revenue stream and generalized off-grid inverters as dangerous and typically installed by "individuals of questionable skill and morals" which is not the case at all. I have been working with, repairing and selling of-grid inventers for 20 years have yet to see any evidence of an injury or death due to an internal malfunction of the electronics or relay system.
  3. Hi, I have patched the firmware on the LinkQnet UPS-INV-5KVA-5048TG2 to be able to be plugged into a normal SANS 16A socket while still able to delver loads of up to 5000W. The algorithm is that the inverter will bypass all input loads up to 14.9A but switch to battery mode if the input AC load exceeds 14.9A. When the inverter output load is below 14.5A it will switch back to AC bypass is AC is present. The inverter will always ensure that the AC loads do not exceed 15A. The inverter can be installed in the same manner as a 'trolley' type inverter and treated as a normal appliance. So you can still have up to 5000W power backup at your house with a sub R10K inverter without having to register the site. I am an engineer and love trying to solve problems. The UPS-INV-5KVA-5048TG2 is not anything like a Voltronic or the many copies. It is fresh design with new technology and ideas and meets all international standards. It is pity that a blanket decision or standpoint denies so many from installing one professionally. Your comments are welcome. COCT_Off_Grid_5048_FW_Limit_2.pdf
  4. My research: Cylindrical cells and according to specifications they are rated at 1C. If nothing changes, let us snapshot this thread and revisit it in 3 - 5 years.   5. So here is the official reply..... "Dear Bobby, The engineer already modified the firmware to limit the power feed to grid as low as possible. But during the load fluctuations, it may still have few power feed to grid but this is already the best we could achieve now. These models do not have the Modbus communication port to manage the energy meter. But if the load is stable then the system should work smoothly. Best regards,.." The bottom line is that if you PV panels attached to the inverter then you must keep it disconnected from the grid or else it will export.... We will sell the the MAX and similar designed Axpert models as Off Grid only if PV is attached.
  6. Hi All, Has the grid feedback issue been resolved or is it still ongoing? Looking at the design, it does not seem to be possible to stop the feedback totally because excess solar power will have nowhere to go when the batteries are fully charged and the load is less than the generated solar power. So it seems that the safest option is not to connect to the grid if you have PV on the roof or only use the unit as a power backup solution with no connected PV. You will also be paying for the power that you feeding back into the grid......
