  1. Normally the first time a victim pitches, the legitimate owners of an address has no idea what's happening. By the third or fourth time, they're warning folks. It also gets nasty sometimes with victims not understanding the scammers are using a fake address, accusing the legitimate owners of running the scam. It gets rather messy when they are also spoofing a legitimate business. Many of our leads are from such folks. Thank you for checking @Virwat.
  2. This one deserves a special mention. They became thesolarguys.energy which saw many victims. Also some nasty messages and threats sent, resulting in a SAPS case of fraud and intimidation. The domain was put on hold (suspended) at Godaddy. Now they're up again with the same website with a new domain name and a new fake address: The Solar Shop https://www.thesolarshop.shop 316 Stateway, Welkom Central, Welkom, 9460 It's one thing being scammed. But when scammers double back, threaten to harm you and/or your loved ones for exposing them, it's next level. It's just a testimony to the types these are.
  3. 4. 5. A terrible trio from the Cameroon: 060 610 2027 +27606102027 No address Content is stolen from other businesses, prices knocked down. It's rather funny recognizing some of the FAQ stuff as originating from poultry scams. invertersforsale.co.za : Inverters For Sale Profile stolen from Full Circle Solar luxsolarpower.co.za : Luxsolarpower generators4u.co.za : Generator 4 U You can still find Bundu Power in the legalese
  6. An extremely well known and documented international scam group: - pet scams - livestock & poultry scams - A4 paper scams - commodities, seeds & feeds ... and solar and generators. powsolution.co.za +27 78 536 4557 +27785364557 [email protected]
  7. This scam mixes used auto spares and engines (content stolen from the legitimate Engine Den in Pretoria), with smaller generators. Japan Engines and Gearbox Auto Shop - https://www.engineandgearboxauto.com Note: This is not to be confused with Jap Engines , Jap-Euro. No doubt the name the scammers chose was to cause exactly such confusion and steal some credibility. This scam is related to the Dog2Gone syndicate mentioned previously as well. It shows the progression of scammers cashing in on the load shedding crisis. The template is identical to the one used for https://www.japan-engines.com and https://www.premiumenginesauto.com, only the generator section has been added to https://www.engineandgearboxauto.com
  8. This scam is attributable to the syndicate that the previous scam actor belongs to. The syndicate is labelled as Dog2Gone. M Cubic Trading Generator (Pty) Ltd - https://www.mcubictradinggenerators.com/ Here the scammers chose to mix their generator scam with a shipping container scam, another popular scam in ZA.
  9. Out first alert here is on Ultra Power Solutions - https://www.ultrapowersolutions.co.za Same party as: GENSET ELECTRICAL - https://www.gensetelectrical.co.za This scam actor is extremely well known, scamming with pets, livestock, A4 paper, shipping containers etc, also the old black money scam. He also has his own project tag, DogGone. More info is available to any law enforcement official.
  10. Starting this thread as an alert area for known scams and bad actors targeting South Africa. We're seeing a massive uptick in these atm. Instead of littering many threads, hopefully this can serve as a common discussion thread. Some of you guys know the legitimate suppliers, also what is plausible, what's not. Artists Against 419 has a project tag for solar and generator scams, ZAShed. Some of these scams concentrate solely on solar and generators, others mix solar and generators with other scam baits. https://db.aa419.org/fakebankslist.php?cmd=ADV&x_Project=zashed
  11. Somebody in Pretoria was quite surprised when folks suddenly started pitching up at her place to collect their generator and solar kits. A scam website called Power Electrical Supply Pty Ltd at https://powerelectricalsupply.co.za has used her address. She went onto Facebook to alert folks (bless her soul). The scammers then promptly changed their telephone number and address on the website to a Cape Town address. 3 Upper Watt St, Mountainside, Cape Town, 7140 (new, for privacy reasons I won't post the old) +27 12 743 5000 (old) +27 21 813 5860 (new) WhatsApp: +27 73 006 3984 The seemingly geographic telephone numbers are actually VOIP numbers. The website claims to sell all types of hardware, also solar kit and generators. Oh and minirals. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not, but the scammer is once again using 1Grid just like scams duriumtech.co.za, previously corumtechnology.co.za.
  12. Received details on a scam from sasolarsuppliers.co.za. A SAPS case had been opened.
  13.
