I am using the exact same inverter for exactly 4 years, without issues... Then, last week, it started showing issues when recharging the 10kw/h battery pack... But than again, it worked hard - even been abused on occasion... It is rated at 4.5kw constant and I use 4.5km constant 😁

Hello everyone. My 3 year old SOL-I-AX-5VP Mecer Axpert 5kw is having issues during charging my 10kw li-ion battery. It worked fine until lately I noticed the lights dimming slightly for a few seconds, while the inverter is bussy recharging the battery bank. I do not use any solar panels. The charging only takes place from the mains. At Prg. 2 I had programmed 60A and at program 11 - 40A. It worked well for a year and a half... Now it starts charging but after 10 or so minutes it is cutting off the power and then imediately restarting the charging process. On occasion I hear some arching noises inside. The lights dimm slightly too. I have dropped the charging Amps from 40 to 30 and things got somewhat better. But it did not last long. Yesterday I dropped it even more (to only 10 amps). And today I went all the way down to 2A! Obviously, 2A is not enough. And the issue is not fixed even at 2A. However, if I ask it to do ONE thing at a time, everything is fine. In other words, the issue only appears if the inverter must recharge the battery and at the same time supply electricity to the house. No error messages are showing on the display. No issues during discharge (even at full load of 5000Watt). Only the charging has this issue. And only if charging while also supplying electricity to the house. Because of the occasional arching noises, I am afraid it will catch fire... What can cause the arching noise and constant disconnections during charging? It sound like a "dry join" contact, where lots of amps must pass thru... How does the inverter accomplish the task of recharging the battery pack AND at the same time, supplying the house with electricity? Obviously, something is wrong with this division of tasks. Any help will be much appreciated.

WOW... I never knew this batteries can be topped-up. I was under the impression they are sealed. Most, if not all the cells BADLY need water. When I shake them (not so easy), one can hear the electrolyte is only half or 2/3 full I even thought to drill a hole at the top but I was affraid of messing them up even more. They MUST last until end of April (when I get a bit of extra cash...) Is it safe to add battery water? Or should I add the battery-acid mixture (one gets from Midas)? And how full should they be? Must I disconnect them before taking the plastic caps off? Any info will be much appreciated. Below is a sticker picture from one of the batteries. All of them are exactly the same. I see, they look simillar to the pic you posted. If I remember correctly, the chap on Gumtree advertised them as "Sealed Batteries" - Non Serviceable. But that was 4-5 years ago... I paid 6000 Rand for 6 but only 5 were working. Best buy ever. Initially they were supposed to last until 2020 - but in 2020 Covid came and I and my wife got very sick. Bateries were the last thing on my mind...

Thank you for the advice. I hear you and this weekend I will replace the battery with the damaged cell. Indeed, fire/explossion danger was the issue why I frantically asked yesterday for the limmiting of charging voltage (and Amps). Now I only charge at 20 Amps and 53V. That's just a bit more than 100Watt -which can be dissipated by the damaged cell. This batteries are really big and that helps with heat dissipation. My car battery will take a beating though. AFAIK car batteries have very thin (but many) plates (to help with high amp loads for short periodes of time). However, they don't like a DOD of more than 10-15%. My car battery will suffer till Saturday with DOD of more than 50% On another note: How do you people post high quality video clips in here? The 3MB size limit forced me to "bend backwards" my encoder settings - and I know a thing or two about video encoding/compression... I am new in this forum. I don't know how to post that short video clip in here 😢 You can open the file in that thread. It definitely saying 'E9' with a little triangle next to it. I do not have Li-Ion batteries. (I wished I had the money for them) The entire system is a few years old. I am using 4x12v @ 150A, old forklift batteries. They are from 2006. One weighs 64kg 😁 I noticed the flashing warning after the system shut down at 44v decause of depletion (4h loadshedding and I constantly used just over 1kw). For the last 4 - 5 days the batteries were extremely hot. I was afraid they will catch fire. Could barely touch them. Disconnected the inverter and it took about 5 hours for the batteries to cool down. Now I reprogrammed the charging voltage to only 52.5v and current to 10A and all seems OK. Only that warning won't go away. No noise or anything. Just flashing no matter what I do...

Good Day everybody, Who can share with me the technical manual for a SOL-I_AX-5P 5KVA inverter? I am new to all this and I have an issue with the charging voltage. I wanted it to be 52V MAX but it is 56.4V My Batteries won't last long

What does WARNING "E9" mean? The handbook only mentions ERROR "09". Everything works 100%. No beeps either. Just the flashing 'E9' and next to it the triangle. I presume it has something to do with my old batteries load balancing. It appeared after a full shutdown under load because the batteries were discharged...
