  1. Agree with you (Regarding the EL), however SANS suggest otherwise (See diagram below annexture P of SANS 10142). Thanks for your reply.
  2. I have a Skyking inverter that I want to permanently wire as part of my house's electrical installation. I tried my best to come up with a wiring diagram of how I see it (very much based on previous threads). I am especially worried about the placement of the earth leakage (especially SANS regulations) and would appreciate your advise. Apologies for my take on a wiring diagram

I build a 12 Volt Lead Acid battery backup system two years back with a cheap "takealot" inverter, which is still in a very good working condition. I however want to repeat the exercise, building a unit for my son. Therefore, a couple of questions: Which cheap inverter (off-grid) is the best buy today? It needs to have all the necessary protection (overload, under voltage, etc) as well as a transfer switch. In the case of building my own transfer switch (with the necessary interlocking) will Solidstate relays be the better way to go? My current system is using analog relays but cut-over time is very slow. What battery and battery voltage will be best suited for such a backup system?
