  1. Hi everyone, We recently had a grid-tied solar system installed about 3 weeks ago comprising of a Deye 8kW inverter with 2x Shoto SDC10-Box 5 5.12kWh batteries. Everything was going smoothly until City Power maintenance meant we had no Eskom yesterday for at least 24 hours until this morning. Hence, we woke up with no power from the inverter and batteries with 0% charge which can't be healthy for them and led me to question the installer's battery settings as I had thought the inverter would've been set to shutdown at a battery SOC of like 20%. The current battery settings are attached as images and as I am very much a solar noob, I would greatly appreciate any advice regarding suitable settings as my installer is not being much help. The first thing I noticed is battery mode is set to "use battery voltage" and not "Lithium". Surely it should be set to "Lithium" since these are Lithium-ion batteries, but just checking if it works correctly with these batteries as I read some posts about some Shoto batteries BMS being incompatible with Deye inverters? If set to "Lithium", will it then automatically obtain all voltage settings from the battery BMS e.g. float V, equalization V etc? Also, does anyone know what Lithium mode number is suitable for these batteries or will 00 work fine? Secondly, for charge and discharge current, the charge current is set to 40A which is lower than the 50A recommended in the user manual but seems to be good for prolonging battery life according to what I've read, correct me if I am mistaken. Discharge current on the other hand seems high at 185A, should it be lower or the same as charge current? Lastly, the shutdown, low batt alarm and restart settings are all voltages which is not very intuitive to my noobiness and seems to be incorrectly set since the batteries drained to zero (no time of use settings have been set yet). Could anyone explain how the voltages correlate to SOC? I will change battery mode to "use batt %" if "lithium" doesn't work to be more intuitive but I am just interested to know how one would identify a suitable shutdown voltage for the batteries. I'm just looking to avoid a repeat and prolong the life of the batteries so if anything else looks weird in the settings please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help which will be greatly appreciated.
