    Man... I skimmed through this very quickly.
    Simplistically the MPPT has one job, find the MPP and then T it. In reality it changes jobs at some point and deliberately strays from the MPP, and it is the WHEN of that job-change that is at stake here.
    Basically it will stay at the MPP until it hits the configured voltage. Depending on the stage it is in (absorb, float, equalise) this might be a different voltage, but it remains the same principle. When it reaches this voltage, it pushes the panel voltage UP (ie towards open circuit) by reducing the PWM mark/space ratio, so that less energy is passed to the battery. It simply regulates this according to the configured voltage so that the battery remains at this voltage.
    In other words, if you tell the charger that the limit is 69V, and for whatever reason you never get there (not enough power in the PV array, or batteries that cannot actually go that high) it will just remain in bulk permanently, that is, it will track the MPPT.

    I can't see any reason to be deceptive and somehow allow people to set it that high and then not honour it. Given the right batteries, I have no reason to think it won't behave like advertised.
    Of course you lot of doubting Tomases now need someone to go out and buy 5 alarm batteries and prove it... eish manne... :-)

    Is there no way you can bring the inv and batteries closer to the PV?
    Running 230V AC over 60m is no problem, but 60m with 16mm cable is going to cost you $$$.

    All this really reminds me that what we are concerned with, in the end is "work" (measured in joules, aka energy). Now as you might recall from those dreamy days known as school, Work equals Force times Distance.  Force, in turn, is mass times acceleration (Newton), and gravity is a kind of acceleration. So if you took a rock and dropped it off a tall building, the amount of work would be mgh, mass times gravity times height. So I can get the same work done by dropping a rock of half the mass off a building twice the height.
    And that really is the same principle here. Drop half the amp hours off twice the voltage, and you get the same work done (once again, in theory, all sorts of inefficiencies come out to play too). So when you get confused, work out the total capacity for work (in kwh) in the simplest terms that makes sense to you. Then, you know you must always get the same answer when you start mucking around with things. When you count your cows and there is suddenly twice as many as you thought... better get off the Vodka there :-)
