OK so I can answer this. The CoCT inverter list that's approved are inverters tested under NRS 097 NRS 097-2-1:2017 Ed 2.1 See Annex 3 of EG Requirements under reference documents at http://www.capetown.gov.za/elecserviceforms. As per that Annex 3 - Huawei Power-M is a passive/active - standby UPS designed topology and is constructed as per the explanation of SANS 62040-3 Annex 3 CoCT exclude all SSEG as it is not tested under NRS 097. It is impossible to test a SANS 62040-3 UPS under the same criteria as a NRS - grid tied inverter. So I bought the Huawei power M. Fantastic by the way. And it's approved based on the architecture and way it's installed. It does not fall into the grid tied inverters list. The people at CoCT that have drafted this haven't done their homework completely and are missing a large chunk of knowledge. Hence if you do it right under the SANS the approver will pass it.
