  1. Thank you for the advise. This makes a lot of sense because last night I put one of the batteries on an AMG Bosch smart charger and it took about 5hrs to reach full capacity even though the battery was already 'full' according to the inverter. That just tells me that the inverter does not effectively charge the batteries up to their full capacity. I'm starting to consider getting rid of the Mecer UPS and rather get a straight forward inverter to be used with a smart charger. I will do a bit of research on budget friendly inverter in my wattage requirement range. Thanks again have a lekker day

  3. Thank you for the reply and advise. I put one of the batteries on the Bosch charger last night. Even though according to the inverter the battery was already fully charged it still took the Bosch charger about 5hrs of charging before it went into full/trickle mode. This makes me wonder if the inverter really packs the battery up to full capacity🤔. Im letting the battery rest today before I take a reading tonight, I will then put a 500W load on my inverter and see what happens.
  4. Thank you, yes if my AGM's have gone for good I will rather spend that extra few bucks and go lithium. From what I read 1 Lithium 60A battery for suffice for my use wich requires on about 300Watt max.
  5. I bought a Mecer 1200AV 720W 12V inverter for loadshedding. The inverter only needs to supply about 200W max in an outage (TV/Router & PS4). On this inverter I run x2 80A FIAMM FLB AGM batteries. The batteries are about 2 years old but well maintained. I tested both of them individually before a connected them up to the inverter. Obviously in a series setup. After working well for about two months I suddenly started getting a low voltage alarm on my inverter after about an hour into loadshedding. This got worse in the following week and now the inverter even shuts off 5 minutes after the low voltage alarm comes on. Yesterday I disconnected the batteries and tested them individually on the inverter with the same results for both batteries. Results as follows: When the AC power cuts the batteries steps down from floating voltage of 13.6V to about 12.5V where it remains and then discharge at a rate of about 0.02V/min, However, after about 20min the battery suddenly drops down to about 11.5V and triggering the alarm and the shortly after that the system switches off. Is it possible that the inverter messed up my batteries? I find it strange that both the batteries are giving me the exact same results in the exact same time period. According to Mecer this inverter is well capable of charging and maintaining AGM batteries. I am going to put the batteries on charge today with a Bosch AGM smart charger and see if I can regain capacity. Any advice will be much appreciated. Regards
