I should add that my Deye inverter is set to Zero Export to CT and I have no intention of selling back to the grid.

I had a solar installation done about 18 months ago in 2023. I received an official COC form with the following information (info at at the top of the page): Annexure 1 Department of labour Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 Certificate of Compliance General Electrical Installation. Certificate of Compliance with a NM number. My question is, since Eskom now says: Eskom’s residential customers may now have their systems signed off by a Department of Labour (DoL)–registered person Do I register with Eskom and provide my current COC number? Surely I don't need another COC done? What would the cost be to register?

Yes that is exactly what the plan after reading up on the geyserwise controller. I will "sacrifice" 3 x 550W panels for the geyserwise controller. Since I already have 8 panels in series on my east facing string, I'll still have 5 x 550W available for morning sun before the west facing panels kick into high gear. My batteries will charge slightly slower in the morning but the benefit would be that the geyser can start heating earlier, as the Smart Load only turns on once the batteries hit 85% SOC. And - I take 2 KW load off my inverter, so more capacity for running other things. I already have all the panels set up. It will just need an extra set of PV wires and changing the 8panel string to a 5 panel / 3 panel setup.

Thank you for the info. I've looked at the specs of the Geysertech Pi2R iX Geyser Solar Controller : MPPT range: 120-325V Internal current limiter: 14A Since I have 8 solar panels in series east facing and another 8 in series west facing: How many would I need to disconnect from one of the east/west facing strings to be able to properly use the geysertech controller? 3 x 550W panels would only provide around 1500W which is less than the 2KW load of my geyser? Or does it work differently?

Hi there, My geyser is already connected to my Smart Load output (I think Sunsynk calls it non-essential). The ideal solution would be some sort of device or protection setting on the inverter that turns the Smart Load when the total inverter output hits 5KW. Adding another 5KW inverter would sort out the issue with the 5KW limit. Another user shared a schematic on how to wire parallel inverters to 1 battery pack. My current single inverter goes through a 100A DC breaker. According to the schematic each inverter's battery bus goes through its own DC breaker. If I run 2 x 5KW inverters, and pull max output (10kW) , I would need 200A @ 50V. If I understand the schematic correctly, each inverter's battery bus runs a 100A DC breaker, and each inverter pulls 100A?

I'm not familiar with the Geysertech controller. I just read some basic about the controller and it seems you connect solar panels directly to the unit and it converts solar power to AC. The unit has AC and DC input, and when DC input is available, it runs the geyser element? My point is not use Eskom at all and I want to go offgrid. How would the geysertech controller prevent me from hitting my inverter limit? I assume this is achieved by my inverter not powering the geyser, which is the opposite of what I want to achieve. If only there was a device that could kill power to the geyser if the total load of the inverter is exceeded. My geyser is already connected to my Smart Output of my inverter although I doubt if the inverter has an option to kill the smart output if the inverter max output is reached.

Hi there, My current solar setup are as follows: Dye 5KW inverter (dual MPPT) 8 x 550W panels in series (east facing) + 8 x 550W panels (west facing). 2 x Volta Stage 1 (50V) batteries in parallel. I'm happy with my setup, but sometimes when I'm not careful, I use more than 5KW total load when the geyser + kettle is under load. I was considering adding another Dye 5KW inverter in parallel to double my load capacity. The Volta Stage 1 batteries are rated at 100A @ 50V each, which equates to around 5KW output, which is a perfect match for a 5KW inverter. If I were to add another 5KW inverter in parallel, would the wiring have to change? I assume that the "battery bus" of both inverters would connect to a shared battery disconnect, and the batteries remain in parallel? What about charging the batteries? I have 2 separate solar panel string running to the existing inverter, MPPT1 is hooked up to the east facing string and MPPT2 is hooked up to the west facing string. Could one split them, with Inverter 1 (original) connected to the east facing string while Inverter 2 (new one) is connected to the west facing string? Or does one connect east and west string to 1 inverter and the system sort itself out? I'm keen to hear what you guys think. If this has been discussed previously, kindly share a link to that article on this forum.

I'm happy to report that I figured out where the issue is. The Wifi SSID that I normally link to the WIFI dongle somehow prevented the datalogger from connecting to the cloud. Nothing changed on my WIFI setup, so I'm not sure what caused the problem. I was setting up my new aircon to connect to my WIFI SSID when it failed to connect to the mobile App. Only when I linked the WIFI Access Point of the aircon to my Guest WIFI connection did it work. Knowing this, I removed and re-added the WIFI dongle of my Inverter and linked it to my Guest WiFi SSID........ and magically the Solarman app started receiving data.

Perhaps someone with a DEYE inverter can check which lights are lit / flashing on their dongle. On my dongle, the far left LED (Net) and far right LED (Ready) flash at the same time, while the middle (Com) LED is green I can access my Plant via the website but it also shows "All Devices Offline"

I need advice to get my Solarman logging to start working again. All was working 100% until this morning when my Solarman app on my android phone displayed "All devices offline". I have done the following to attempt a fix: - restarted my wifi router. - disconnected and reconnected the wifi dongle from my Deye 5KW inverter - turned off / on my actual inverter - Unbinded the datalogger in the Solarman app and re-add the same datalogger. When looking at the physical datalogger, the Power and Com lights are solid green while the Ready light on the right steadily flashes every couple of seconds. I also ran a diagnostic on the datalogger via the Solarman app via the "Device Networking" option The diagnostic shows goes through all the steps and shows "Verified" at the end. Any suggestions to fix the issue?
