I got the inverter from someone else and I think the dirt on the pcb came with the inverter, but I probably should open it again and have a look. I wonder if humidity could have something to do with it as we've had a lot of rain the last week or so. It's really weird that everytime I clean the pcb's it works fine for a week or so and then it starts acting up. (happened 2 times already) It is inside my garage mounted to a board on the wall so not in a very hostile environment.

Everything was working 100% for about a week now, but last night I noticed that the battery voltage on the inverter has started creeping down again. At the moment the inverter is showing +- 1v less than my external voltmeter. I verified the battery voltage with a multimeter at the battery connection on the inverter and it was exactly the same as the external volt meter, so the inverter is definitely showing 1v less than the actual battery voltage. It would not be a massive problem if it stayed at 1v difference, but the difference keep increasing daily. I've disconnected the batteries and all power to the inverter for 30 seconds and restarted it, but the voltage is still wrong.

It did go back to utility eventually, but I'm not sure at what voltage. When I checked it was in bypass mode and battery voltage at 25v, but that voltage was after the battery was resting for a few hours. For now I think these settings will work for me, I will fine tune it a bit, but thanks Coulomb and Viceroy for the help.

I've changed the settings to OSO, but now I get a low battery warning when the voltage go below the back to grid voltage and it does not switch to bypass. Will it go back to utility if it reaches the low voltage disconnect voltage?

I think I misunderstood the 40a setting as the manual says solar + utility, did not think that it would use both at the same time. If I set the back to battery higher than the float, would it ever reach that voltage, as the battery basically never go above float? I think maybe I must set my low voltage disconnect to 50% soc.

Hi, I thought about that, but that may cause the batteries to be discharged too low, which may shorten battery life, because it will then basically draw power from the batteries until it reaches the low voltage disconnect setting if I understand it correctly. If it stops at the "back to grid" setting (12) it should work perfectly, I think I will try and check what happens, thanks.

Hi, I know this subject has been discussed quite a few times already, but my situation is a bit of a catch 22. I have an Axpert 2kw inverter with 2 x 105ah deep cycle lead acid batteries and 2 x 330w solar panels. The main objective for the system is basically to be a backup/ups for lights. The total load is about 150w, so quite low. I would like to make use of solar as much as possible, but I don't want to discharge the batteries too low as I would like to get as long a service life out of the batteries as possible. At the moment I have set solar and battery power as first priority with the voltage where the system switches back to utility at 25v (24v system). The problem I have is that when the load is connected at night it cycles between 25v and 27v almost every 20min so I basically only use solar for the 1st cycle and for the rest of the time utility is charging the battery back to 27v (float) and during the day solar only keep the batteries on float. I think my settings need some adjustment. Ok, so I've cleaned everything with contact cleaner and found that there was also some dirt on the CNTL board tabs which I also cleaned. I also initially had a problem where the inverter would not use the solar panels to charge the battery. Now everything seems to be working. I've added an extra volt meter to my battery bank and the voltage is now within 0.1v of the voltage on the external volt meter and the solar is charging the batteries. (photo taken 6am so not much sun yet) Thanks for the help and advice.

Most of the inside is very clean and looks brand new. I am going to clean everything with contact cleaner and check if there are any dry joints or anything that needs to be re-soldered. I don't think there are any bad components or anything that is blown, or none that I can see, unless it is one of the IC's.

I had a look inside and the cntl board and everything else looks brand new except for the cap and resistors in the pic. Could this affect anything?

I will have a look at the electronics. Are replacement boards etc available for these inverters? I bought the inverter used, so there might be some problems. There are almost no software / hardware info online, so it's quite difficult to troubleshoot as most info available is for the 3-5kva units. Thanks

Hi Does anyone know if there is a way to upgrade / restore the firmware on a Axpert VM 2kw, or a way to calibrate the battery voltage? The battery voltage on mine is suddenly totally wrong. I saw that it was showing the battery voltage as 22v and decided to check the voltage at the batteries and I got 30v. I've also checked the voltage at the connection points on the inverter and it is actually 30v, so it is trying to charge the batteries, but they are full.

Axpert VM 2kw not charging from solar
The panel voltage does exceed 80v, the strange thing is that even if it's at 70v it does not charge and if I switch off the grid the solar also stops charging. If I change the display to show the PV charging amps it changes between 1A and 0A every 2 seconds. Maybe I should try putting the panels in parallel, only problem I can see with that is that I would need more sun before it would start charging.

This morning it was raining again and the inverter was charging the batteries from solar and grid, but at a very low rate 11w. As soon as I turn of grid input the solar also switches off.

Hi I have a Axpert VM 2kw inverter (Solar Solved branded) with 2 x 330w solar panels in series. According to the sticker and specs on the inverter this should work, but it will not charge my batteries from solar. When it was installed it was a rainy day and when it was switched on it started charging the batteries, but since then we've had some sunny days and currently it will only charge the batteries from utility and not solar, although solar is available and the pv voltage shows as above 70v. The pic showing 28.2v was on installation and the 77.8v was today. Any help / advice will be appreciated.
