I'm helping a neighbour out with their Solar Installation, and I have a few questions that I hope someone can help clear up. First let me describe the existing setup:
1) There are a pair of Axpert Inverter/Charger (I/C) SOL-I-AX-5M's setup in parallel mode. (sorta :- only one is getting a feed from the PV array)
2) 9 x Enersol 260w Panels on the roof (at the wrong angle), wired up partly in series, partly in parallel, giving 100v 780W total (through a too-thin cable to the Axpert C/I pair).
3) 3 banks of 4 x 12v 150Ah batteries wired in series for 48V each bank, 3 banks in parallel.
4) Batteries are connected common to both Axperts, which is correct.
5) The PV input is only going to ONE of the Axperts.
Is this configuration ok, or would it be better to split up the panels, so that both Axperts can get PV input? The setup guide for parallel mode indicates that each Axpert should have it's own PV array (not commoned up into one feed that goes to both Axperts).
If it is better to split, and feed a bank of PV to each Axpert, will it be OK to have five panels on the one, and 4 on the other, or is it better if there are equal numbers of PV panels on each I/C?
