    PB panels

How much pv panels is enough? Can you ever have to much pv panels ?
  3. Hi guys. I found an article on the web where it stated that you can put more panels on the roof than your inverter specs. It was stated due to losses you can go 133% over the specified watt. It said from 3kw after losses you normally get only 2.4 kw. so you can put 4kw of panels on the roof. Is this true. My mecer inverter specs are 4500w on the roof. I want to go to 5200w. Will it be safe?
  4. Hello all, I am struggling to find the latest version of the Watchpower monitoring software. The Mecer website does not have the latest download link nor does the Watchpower website, it only has the 1.0 version. Does any of you maybe know of a website where I can download the latest version? Because as it is now, I can't really use it as my inverter has two PV input displays(input directly to the house and input to the batteries) and this version only shows one. Inverter: Mecer SOL-1-AX-5NB Kind Regards, Vulgrim
  5. Jaco de Jongh do you sell solar panels ?
  6. This is the specs of the high voltage panels.
  7. 4500 w divide by 325 give you14 panels Voc-45.5 volts . Vic -37 volts. Voc. 7X45.5 = 318 volts. 9X45.5= 409 volts. Vic. 7X37 = 259 volts. 9X37=333 volts. Using 9 panels yo get to 333 volts. But then i am losing out on 1575 watt. 4500-2925=1575
  8. No i cannot get to that voltage even if i put them in series. If you take the max amount of watt that your inverter can take (4500 watt.)And devide that into your solar panels (325 w) you get 14 panels using 2 arays you can only get to 260 volts. If you put more in series you cannot use all 14 panels.
  9. My Axpert mks 5000kva Inverter got power surge damage. I replace it with 2 Mecer 5000kva inverters. They will be running in parrelel in 2 weeks time. My new inverters solar aray volt is from 120 volt to 430 volt with a VOC of 450. The one inverter is getting 258 volt at 6 amps. I must buy new panels for the second inverter. But high voltage panels are so much more expensive. So do i go for the same kind of voltage and amps or do i go for 360 volt at 6 amps with cost almost double. What would you guys do ?;
  10. How much can i go oversize ? My inverters can do 4500 w on the roof each.
  11. Anybody got any experience with CNBM solar panels ? Are they any good ?
  12. Any opinions on this inverter. I hear it is excellent. Can they run in parallel?
  13. The pots and pans are also washed in the basin at our house. But my wife only use the longest and hottest cycle.
  14. Thanks will check it out.
  15. It goes to 72 degrees because the cycle being used is for pots and pans.
  16. I am running a 48 v inverter with 3300 w of panels on the roof. My battery bank is 300 amp. Switch over voltage on the batteries are 50 volts.
  17. Our dishwasher is a kelvinator and it has 6 different cycles. But we always use it on the longest and hottest cycle. It heats up the water to 72 degrees on this cycle. The dishwasher normally runs during the day because then we are on solar. But the swimming pool pump is also running at the same time. When it heats up the water it overloads the system and it switches over to utility. That is the main reason i want to switch over to a hot water feed.
  18. I have this idea and was wondering if anybody else have done it. I am running on salar during the day but at night i am on utility. I also got a 300 L solar geyser. The water supply of my dishwasher is normal gold water, that my dishwasher has to heat up. I want to connect my solar geyser to my dishwasher so i can use the "free" hot water. Do you think it can be done.
  19. Do you know of anybody who is running 2 Axperts in parallel? So they use the same battery bank. But each will be running from there own pv array, and of course the communication cable must be installed between them.
  20. When I brought my Expert I made sure it is the one with the communication card already installed so it can be used in parallel mode.
  21. Yes I know I cannot exceed the mppt limit, all I am going to do is buy another Expert and run them in parallel. Then each inverter can run from 3000 WATT panels on the roof. (120 AMP)
  22. Found this on the net the site is WRND Engineering. WRND 48/120 for R5999 Specs. WRND has a wide range of MPPT type solar charge controllers to best fit your needs. We manufacture in-house and support directly in South Africa. No need to pay the importers and expensive oversees shipping cost or waiting for stock. We offer a 2 year warranty as standard on our ProSeries products , but also have a 5 year and 10 year optional extension available. MPPT solar charge controllers have been proven to offer far better performance compared to standard PWM type solar regulators. On average one can expect up to 30% better yields. This is because of the dynamic and intelligent way in which these controllers find and track the maximum power delivery point of the connected solar panels, hens the abbreviation MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking). Given 30% better power yield translates to a significant cost saving when buying solar panels, one simple need less total panel watts to yield the same average power output compared to a PWM type solar regulator. In addition, the MPPT also log statistics, intelligently charges and conditions the batteries and can be user configured for optimum system performance. Our units are all solid state and have no moving parts or fans that could malfunction with time. We also offer an optional conformal coating to prevent moisture from influencing or damaging the unit. This option is ideal for maritime applications, harsh environments, preventing damage due to insects and damp conditions. Nominal battery voltage: 12V, 24V, 36V or 48V (auto select) Handles panels up to: 6000W (48V system), 4500W (36V system), 3000W (24V system), 1500W (12V system) Max panel voltage: 150V Max continues battery charging current: 123A (electronically limited) Charging (3 stages): Bulk, Absorb & Equalize Log history: last 31 days (saves: kWh, run time and max pv watts) Totals counter: days & kWh Protection: Over current protection in hardware and software Over voltage limiting in hardware and software Over temperature Settings: Charging current limit Normal charging: voltage Equalize charging: voltage, duration, occurrence Other sizes available: 30A, 60A & 90A Model: WMP4812A Shipping Weight: 5.5kg
  23. Okay the only reason for me wanting a 100 amp mppt is to increase the panel watts on my roof. So do i understand correctly i can use multiple mppt controllers on the same battery bank? I am running a 5kw Axpert 48 v inverter. Got 10 Benq 330 watt panels (3300watt) (Voc :647 ,Vmp:54,7 volt and 7 Imp) 2 in series ,5 strings (parrelell). Got 8 Shoto AGM gel 150 amp batteries. No problem running during the night ,but daytime i dont want to use a combination of panels and batteries. Already got a Apollo 300L solar geyser and a gas stove. I would like to put 5000 watt on the roof.
